Nature's Best Foods Suggests How Best To Take New Life ColostrumMany natural health practitioners suggest that for best results, Colostrum should be taken in larger doses when first starting (perhaps twice as much), with maintenance doses after the desired results are obtained. Dr. Henderson, M.D., mentions in his book, Nature's Healing Miracle, that when treating a specific ailment or disease, the recommendation is to start with a high dosage (also called front-loading) of four to six capsules, twice daily, then reducing the dosage to five capsules daily in divided dosages (ie. three in the morning and two in the late afternoon), when you get your desired results.Colostrum has a half-life of 16 hours, so for maximum benefit it is important to take it twice a day. Symbiotics, the manufacturer, suggests a minimum maintenance dosage of two to four capsules twice a day. Dr. Daniel G. Clark who wrote the book "COLOSTRUM -- LIFE'S FIRST FOOD" suggests a minimum dosage of 3,000 mg or three capsules twice a day. Each person's body assimilates and uses colostrum differently, so you may need to experiment to determine what dosage is best for you. It is recommended that capsules should be taken on an empty stomach without any food or other supplements (at least 30 minutes before you eat or at least two hours after you eat) with 8-12 oz. of water. The immune factors in Colostrum work best if they are helped to reach the small intestine - and the best way to achieve this is to take capsules followed with plenty of water. A recommended schedule may be taking the capsules in the morning before breakfast, and then again several hours after lunch, or an hour before dinner. It may be helpful to try to get into a regular routine so you can always remember when to take it. When taking the colostrum in powder form, the efficacy of the growth factor components in Colostrum is enhanced by contact with saliva and stomach acids. The powder can be taken alone or it may be mixed with other foods or beverages, such as whey or soy drink mixes. The Colostrum powder works more directly on the growth factors - stimulating cell growth of tissue and skin, healing of tissue, muscle, bone, and cartilage, elevating our mood, burning fat, and building muscle. It may even be used to promote topical healing. The powder works in the body differently and may be taken differently. One to two teaspoons should be taken twice a day. For quicker absorption, the Colostrum may be placed under the tongue for 30 seconds, followed with 8-12 oz. of water. The powder may also be mixed and taken with any liquid drink (ie. homemade protein shake) or taking it with food (putting it on top of applesauce, yogurt, or cottage cheese works well), or even on an empty stomach.
